Damian O’Hare: “Brink” (VG)

Posted in various work, video games with tags , , , on 9 May, 2011 by ambarussa

11 May 2011 sees the release of “Brink”

an immersive first-person shooter that blends single-player, co-op, and multiplayer gameplay into one seamless experience, allowing you to develop your character whether playing alone, with your friends, or against others online. You decide the combat role you want to assume in the world of Brink as you fight to save yourself and mankind’s last refuge. Brink offers a compelling mix of dynamic battlefields, extensive customization options, and an innovative control system that will keep you coming back for more.

Damian O’Hare’s is one of the eight “voices” you can choose from to play (with a “fairly strong Northern Irish accent”).

“Brink” is available on Amazon and suitable for folks over 16 years of age.  Frank, authority for all things gaming, has already placed an order, so buyers shouldn’t be disappointed.
Don’t ask me – my favourite VG is Plants vs. Zombies

Pirates of the Caribbean Lego Video Game – new trailer and screencaps

I’m a declared VG luddite, but I admit I’m very tempted to pre-order the “Pirates of the Caribbean” Lego game, if it should be released for PC as well. The brand new trailer released today by Disney France looks hilarious.

Here’s a screencap. Marines that should have gone to Specsavers and a befuddled Norrington. You can choose one of 70 characters to play; whether Gillette will be one of them, I don’t know yet.

My favourite scene so far:

Lego-Damian: “Pirates of the Caribbean – the Lego Movie”

Posted in movies, potc, various work with tags , , , , , , , , , , , on 14 July, 2010 by ambarussa

Media fans are often very dedicated to their hobby, and many of them are amazingly creative. That’s a great thing, because it means we all get more mileage out of a movie or a TV show. And if you’ve ever suffered through “The Phantom Menace”, you’ve learned to appreciate the quality of fan movies.

Philippe Vergauwen is the name of one such fan, and he’s worked 1.5 years on the Lego-version of “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl” (the first half of the movie, that is). And while he skipped some key scenes, he did include Lt. Gillette, so you can now all enjoy the Lego-version of Damian O’Hare.

Oddly enough, Gillette starts out as a marine, and the Admiralty would probably not have approved of stubbles and moustache, but eh, Commodore Norrington isn’t a good role model there, so we’ll let it slip.

Mr. Gillette has a mid-scene uniform change on his way to the Dauntless, but it looks like he’s lost his razor. Maybe Lt. Wilkinson could have helped him out there.

We all know that this won’t end well for our hero…

In summary: this is was great fun, compliments to Philippe and thanks for sharing!

Unfortunately, all videos have been deleted by the user.

Whether this was his own decision or yet another case of some jobsworth seeing copyright infringment where there was none, I can’t tell. Still, it was fun while it lasted…

New page for voice acting, minor changes

Posted in various work, video games, website with tags , on 31 January, 2010 by ambarussa

I’ve added a skeleton page for Damian’s voice acting; it lists ads, but mostly the VGs he was involved with. There are titles, dates and links; please note that most of those games are suitable for +16 only and that your date of birth will be asked for. I’m not responsible for the content of external links and you click at your own risk.

I also updated the biography and corrected a gazillion of typos and incorrect translations in the German version of the website. Thanks a lot to Andreas S. for the information on the video games as well as for German-betaing.

Various work: Damian O’Hare as Olf in VG “Risen”

Posted in various work, video games on 25 October, 2009 by ambarussa

As previously reported, Damian O’Hare is the voice of character “Olf” in VG “Risen”. The game was released on 2 October and has so far received good feedback from the gamer community. If you’re interested in “Risen”, you can have a look at the official website, or watch one of the “step-by-step” guides on youtube (see below). Test downloads are available as well.

Here’s an excerpt from the game, complete with the type of pseudo-medieval music which is the pièce de résistance of spas everywhere. Olf, the character voiced by Damian O’Hare, makes his appearance at 1:21 and has a bit of a sore throat.

You can purchase “Risen” here: PC DVD / Xbox 360
