Good times for British viewers! We start with one of Damian’s earlier roles, as Donal in the fourth episode of “Northern Lights” (2006):

ITV4 has picked up “Hell on Wheels” and is currently running the first series of the show on 10pm on Tuesdays. This is the perfect way to catch up with the story until the start of series three, which will premier on AMC on Saturday, August 10, 9|8c. It’s a rather darkish Western Drama and far more realistic than what’s usually running under that label. I’m not much of a Western fan myself, but if you enjoy that genre or gritty history drama, I can really recommend the show. Good story, solid acting, high standard of production.
And yes, Damian O’Hare will be on the show. I know he isn’t listed anywhere. I didn’t make it up, just give it time. I’m sure we’ll get an update, latest for the premiere of season 4. 5. Whatever.

NEW CHARITY
After five years of supporting HeroRats, it was time for a change (no worries, the heroic rodents will continue to be supported, but privately). Our new charity of choice is
They deliver free, healthy breakfast foods to UK primary schools with more than 50% free school meals. In each one of those schools, children start the day too hungry to learn, and a hungry child is often unable to concentrate in class. Magic Breakfast provides a healthy breakfast to 6,000 children each morning, as essential fuel for learning. This improves child attendance, punctuality, concentration and behaviour. All for just 22p a day.
I’ve been involved with social work for a long time, and used to work in an institution for male teenagers with “behavioural issues”. I met 15 years olds who never had a decent breakfast in their lives. Every child fed by Magic Breakfast is a child who gets a chance – to learn, to grow, to thrive, to dream. And for every child who has that chance, there’s one teenager less who hasn’t.
Thanks to the generosity of Damian’s fans, we already managed to drum up Ā£ 220 for Magic Breakfast.

I just learned that ITV3 is showing daily re-runs of “The Royal”, all seasons right up to Christmas! This means that, come December, you can enjoy once again Damian O’Hare as Dr. Burnett; saving Brownies, puppies and lovelorn nurses! Christmas is saved!

Looks like somewhere on this planet the last season of “The Royal” has made an appearance, and left some viewers confused…
Don’t worry, you’re not alone. We didn’t really get it, either, but I’ll try to answer your questions to my best knowledge.
“Whatever happened to Nick and Marian? Where are they?”
We discussed various scenarios like “they stepped into the Tardis”, but if you listen very carefully, you’ll pick up a short line about Marian and Nick eloping due to looming parenthood. Blink and you missed it; the Royal just gets a new locum and that’s it. Personally, I like the Tardis-version better.

“And what about Bobby? Is he dead?”
I have no idea, there’s not a word about his fate. But if you have friends who don’t even mention your possibly deadly injuries and a love interest who has all but forgotten you the next day, you’re probably better off in Hades.

I can only guess here… ITV didn’t care?
I have no idea what went on behind the scenes of “The Royal”; the axing of a show can put writers under terrible pressure. However, the show – and its loyal fans – would have deserved a more dignified treatment. Just remember the good times, and write your own happy endings.

It’s been a while, but many of you certainly remember Damian O’Hare as Dr. Nick Burnett in “The Royal”. Not an episode went by without him rescuing kittens, Brownies or little old ladies, performing the Heimlich maneuver or smooching the nurse.
One dedicated “Royalist” has sent me the link to some promo shots and a series of pictures taken on the set ofĀ “The Royal” in 2008 during the filming of Damian’s first episode, “Against All Odds”. The pictures are tiny, but you can still tell that it must have been very wet and very cold.
While the holiday-laundry is gently doing its spins in the washing machine, I have time for a quick update:
I’ve updated the list of reviews for Double Feature. The shows saw their last performances on Saturday, so there won’t be any further updates to that entry.
I’ve added a small gallery for Double Feature.
Now that Double Feature is over – would you like the benches as a souvenir? Or maybe the bar from The Swan?

Hamilton Hodell, Damian O’Hare’s management, have updated their website and Damian’s official page. Definitely looks much better now. They’ve also included a showreel, so you can now watch some snippets from “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl”, “The Royal”, “Taking the Flak”, “Casualty” plus hard-to-find “Wild West: Billy the Kid” and impossible-to-find “Fractured”:
