Remember how I wrote that I’d never heard of the Hatfields & McCoys feud before this? I was wrong! French PotC-fan Élodie mailed me scans from the Lucky Luke comic “Les Riveaux de Painful Gulch” (“The Rivals of Painful Gulch”) by Morris & Goscinny (the fathers of Asterix the Gaul), and she’s absolutely right. The O’Timmins and O’Hara’s feud was indeed inspired by the Hatfields & McCoys! And people still claim that comics aren’t educational…
